The Picture Maker. As a young boy he befriended an old man "Jake" who showed him faded old photos from the past of the people from the mountains of West Virginia. Jake would tell him over and over again the stories that went with the pictures. The boy wanted to see more of the past but there were no more pictures. He would have to make those pictures himself. He would draw them. He would become a picture maker
- His mentors continue to be the now silent European and American artists of the late 19th century.
- His goal is to aint in a way that could communicate feeling, "more than just emotion", from one heart to another.
